Spurs morning news: Eight could miss match; boss on keeping player ‘calm’

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton to White Hart Lane today for a vital fixture for both clubs.

Positive Europa League campaigns will be forgotten this weekend as Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto Martinez attempt to mastermind a victory that will push their side that little further up the table after hit-and-miss campaigns for both sides.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham could be without eight first-team players for different reasons.

They claim Emmanuel Adebayor, Younes Kaboul, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Andros Townsend and Danny Rose could all be out injured, while Kyle Naughton is suspended and Kyler Walker is not yet match fit.

In other news, Tottenham manager Pochettino has been speaking about Roberto Soldado, who continues to struggle in front of goal this season.

Speaking to reporters in comments later published by Sports Mole, the Argentine said, “We need to give him the chances to play again and keep him calm.”

There is no doubt the Spaniard is supremely talented but Spurs fans are yet to see that on a consistent basis since his move in 2013.
