Liverpool morning news: Goal-scoring hero speaks; reported Balotelli issues

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool’s goal-scoring hero Glen Johnson has been speaking following his match-winning strike against Stoke City.

The full-back netted a late winner that eased the pressure on Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, and in quotes later published by the club’s official website Johnson said, “We’ve always been fighting hard together to try and put things right.

“So hopefully we can take some momentum from this and move forward.”

The result was vital for a Liverpool side who had stalled both domestically and in Europe but there is still a very long way to go.

In other news, the Sunday People reports that Mario Balotelli was told to go to bed by his own manager just hours before a Champions League match away to FC Basel earlier this season.

The report goes on to claim that Balotelli has let friends into Liverpool’s Melwood training complex in the past and that at least one senior player has raised concerns regarding the striker in recent times.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Balotelli, but it is fair to say his start to life as a Liverpool player has not gone according to plan on the pitch.
