Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Azpilicueta performance v Sunderland

Chelsea fans have been discussing their full-back situation on Twitter.

Chelsea were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Sunderland yesterday, as a robustly assembled Gus Poyet side did well to squeeze the life out of the Premier League leaders.

One area in which they did well was preventing Chelsea's full-backs, vital to the attacking part of Chelsea's game, from getting up the pitch.

In fact, it even caused something of a debate on Twitter after the match.

Defensively Branislav Ivanovic was excellent, as always, but many a Chelsea fan was upset at not seeing him maraud into the opposing half like usual. Connor Wickham's presence on the left made life difficult for the Serbian and many believe he might have to be dropped for the Spurs game.

Fans were generally more complimentary about the performance of the left-back Cesar Azpilicueta. The Spaniard has been revelation on the left-hand side but many would like to see him given a chance at his preferred right-back, with Filipe Luis brought into the side on the left.

Mourinho likes the defensive solidity that Ivanovic gives him but perhaps he is missing out on a more natural attacking element by continuing to play him, do not be surprised if he sits out the Tottenham game in midweek.

Here is what some of the Chelsea fans have been saying on Twitter...
