Geoff Keighley, producer of this years Game Awards has notified Twitter that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will be at the event to "world premiere Metal Gear Online."
Historically Metal Gear Online first arrived as part of the PlayStation 2 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The online component for Metal Gear continued in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and was released as a separate game in Japan but was axed in June 2012.
Featuring online multiplayer for up to 16 players Metal Gear Online came with a selection of different modes including team stealth, deathmatch, capture and rescue.
Speaking to CVG earlier on this year Kojima noted that Metal Gear’s online action would be arriving with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
"Multiplayer right now is being created at our LA studio as well as us," said Kojima at the time. "We're working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all the fans."
Taking place on Friday 5th December The Game Awards 2014 can be watched via livestreams on a number of platforms including Steam, YouTube, Twitch, Wii U, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
