We compile the best reaction to Luis Nani's performance for Sporting Lisbon last night from Manchester United fans on Twitter.
Luis Nani is continuing to thrive away from Manchester United, after putting in another dazzling display for Sporting Lisbon last night.
The Portuguese winger seemingly had no future at Old Trafford, but his form away from the club is making United fans reconsider their opinion on him.
On his day, Nani was a major threat to defences, but he has failed to find his best form for a number of seasons and, as a result, the Red Devils deemed him surplus to requirements.
His performances for Sporting have suggested that he could still have a part to play for the club when he does return, though.
Nani scored his his fourth goal of this season's Champions League competition during Sporting's 3-1 success over Maribor.
It was a strike which highlighted the ability that the 28-year-old possesses, as he danced round a number of the Slovenian side's defenders before lashing the ball into the net.
This match-winning brilliance is something which has been missing at United, despite all their attacking additions, and the club's supporters are starting to feel that he should be given another chance in their first-team when he does return.
Team | Key passes | Shots | Successful dribbles | Touches | Appearances | Mins Played | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nani | Sporting | 7 | 7 | 3 | 72 | 1 | 90 |
Nani was a constant threat for Sporting last night, making seven key passes and having the same number of attempts himself.
If he can continue to be that influential the clamour for him to be brought back to United is likely to continue.
For now, though, he will simply be looking to guide Sporting into the next round of the competition. The side face Chelsea in their final group game of the competition, and they need a win to confirm their progress to the knockout stages.
