Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has revealed what he does immediately after a match.
Speaking to Inside United, the 26-year-old said: “Before getting showered, I normally check my phone and speak with my family about how the game went.”
It seems that Mata values the opinion of his family members about his performance very much, and understandably so. After all, they are the ones who will be with him through thick and thin.
Mata is one of the best attacking players in the world. but he has not been at his best so far this campaign.
In fact, since making the move to United from Chelsea in January 2014 for a transfer fee of £37.1 million, the former Real Madrid B midfielder has not been himself.
However, Mata has remained true to his footballing rules, which he explains are: “To believe in yourself, to stay hungry to improve, to be professional and respect your teammates.”
Mata is a true gentleman and, unlike other footballers, does not go public with his differences with the managers.
The former Valencia star was regularly left out of the Chelsea team by Jose Mourinho, but he did not hit out at the Portuguese.
Even now, there are suggestions that Mata could be sold by United in the January transfer window, but he remains professional and committed.
