The Manchester City loanee bagged a hat-trick in the Scottish League Cup – and promised to down Rangers if Celtic were drawn with their rivals in the semis.

John Guidetti continued his fine goalscoring form for Celtic last night, netting a hat-trick during his side’s 6-0 Scottish League Cup win over Partick Thistle.

Now, the possibility of an Old Firm derby in the semi-finals could await the Bhoys – and the Swede says whoever his side face will be ‘going down.’

“Of course it would be a fantastic game to be a part of. Whatever happens, happens,” Guidetti said after the game.

“Come Hampden Park, 11 people standing in front of us, they are going down. Hampden Park will be amazing, no matter who we play. I am excited about every game for Celtic.

“We all know [a Rangers clash] is a special game. This is a game I woke up at 11.30am when I was a small kid to watch. It is fantastic, very spicy and you see that it means a lot. The atmosphere is amazing, you can hear it through the television.

“But we need to stay focused. There are four good teams left in the cup and this club deserves trophies so hopefully we can do this.”

Needless to say, Celtic fans are delighted at both the Swede’s form and his promises to ‘down’ Rangers. So much so that some fans are already comparing him to Henrik Larsson. Many feel the Manchester City loanee is yet to earn those comparisons but several Bhoys supporters have drawn the link on Twitter.
