Xbox Games on Demand version of GTA: San Andreas confirmed by Rockstar

GTA San Andreas CJ And Homies

Rockstar Games have confirmed a 720p version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available on the Xbox Store on 26th October.

The appearance of some achievements for GTA: San Andreas, and it's disappearance from the Xbox Store a couple of days ago, prompted speculation that a new version of the game may be on its way. Well, Rockstar have now confirmed a new version of San Andreas is indeed coming.

The Rockstar Games support page confirms that the game will be available on the Xbox Store again under a 'Games on Demand' version from 26th October, the 10th anniversary of the game's release. This new version will run at 720p, have greater draw distance, and include achievement support. They then listed the achievements, which I've put below:

Rockstar do also note that there are 11 secret achievements being added to the game too.

Bad news if you want to carry on your save file from the Xbox Originals version however, as the new version won't be compatible. Rockstar said: 'Save files will not transfer from Xbox Originals. Owners of the Xbox Originals version will still have access to the old version on their consoles and through their download history, with the option to purchase the new version to experience the added features on a new save file.'

As far as a PS3 version for San Andreas goes, we can't see any mention of one. We'll have to wait and see if Rockstar makes a further, more official, announcement.
