Juan Mata: Liverpool star was the toughest opponent I've faced

The Manchester United forward has singled out the man who did the most damage playing against him in the Premier League.

Juan Mata has singled out former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as one of his toughest Premier League opponents.

In an interview, the Spaniard spoke of Robin van Persie, Gareth Bale and Suarez as three players who have done the most damage playing against his side.

And Mata spoke of the Uruguayan in particular, saying he felt that he was 'only going to win the game' against United at Old Trafford last term.

Asked which of his opponents have been the most formidable, Mata told El Pais:

"[Robin] Van Persie, [Gareth] Bale and Luis Suarez. With the latter, when we played against Liverpool, I felt that he was only going to win the game. He was 70% of his team."

Suarez was typically effective for the Reds during their 3-0 win over Man United last season.

He has since left Liverpool, however, and could be primed for his Barcelona debut in this Saturday's El Clasico clash against Real Madrid.

Mata, meanwhile, could be in line to face former club Chelsea when Manchester United host them on Sunday.
