Top five stats from Southampton's 8-0 annihilation of Sunderland

Southampton recorded their biggest ever victory in the Premier League as Sunderland scored two own goals at St Mary's.

Here are the top five statistics from the weekend encounter:

1) Southampton are the first team to hit 50 shots on target in the Premier League this season. They also boast the best defence, having conceded just five goals.

2) Dusan Tadic is only the sixth player to assist four goals in a single English top flight game, alongside Dennis Bergkamp, José Antonio Reyes, Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Adebayor and Santi Cazorla.

3) This is the first time a Premier League team has scored eight or more goals in a game since Chelsea thrashed Aston Villa 8-0 Villa December 2012. It's also the first time Southampton have scored five goals in a top flight game since their 6-3 win against Manchester United, back in October 1996.
