Derby fans purr over Ibe after performance against Reading - 'Absolutely destroyed them!'

Derby County fans were delighted with the performance of on loan Liverpool star Jordon Ibe against Reading last night in the League Cup.

Derby County secured a solid and impressive 2-0 win in the League Cup last night against Reading.

The Rams were in good form as their attention switched away from the Championship, with Johnny Russell scoring and Alex Pearce converting an own goal to give Steve McClaren’s side the victory.

One of the standout performers for Derby last night was on loan Liverpool star Jordon Ibe.

Ibe caused chaos for the Reading defence and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be extremely pleased with the progress that Ibe has so far shown during his spell with the Championship giants.

What he would have been looking for from the young Liverpool star is a big impact in big games and that appears to be exactly what he’s producing.

Ibe doesn’t shy away from difficult confrontations and the prospect of a difficult match against an experience full-back or whoever has been assigned to try and keep him quiet.

Overall, McClaren was extremely pleased with what he saw from his team.

“We got the clean sheet and if we keep doing that we will win games. We have got players who are dangerous, can create and can score goals. We had to stay patient, but in the end it paid off,” he said after the game.

“We haven't quite reached the heights of last season yet, when some of our football was absolutely fantastic to watch.”

Derby are currently ninth in the Championship table and if they can keep the momentum going across multiple fronts then the side has a chance of being successful in more than one area by the summer of next year.

Ibe will simply be hoping to maintain his form and use this spell to return to Liverpool as a more effective player. Here’s what Derby fans made of Ibe’s performance on Twitter.
