Allen was part of the side that comprehensively beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in March.
On that day, Allen played a crucial role in an excellent team performance for the Reds which saw Steven Gerrard score twice from the penalty spot - and hit the post with another spot-kick - with Luis Suarez rounding off the scoring.
Allen was fouled by Man United defender Phil Jones for the second penalty as the Reds ran out comfortable winners in March - with the side on an incredible winning run at the time.
He told the Liverpool's official match programme: "My home debut against Manchester City pushes it close from a personal point of view but the win against Manchester United was part of the great season we had last year and kept that good run we had going. To go to your rivals and beat them so comfortably on your own patch was an incredible feeling."
Allen improved a great deal last season and became an effective part of the side - and seems to thrive when Liverpool play a diamond formation.
He has already proved how effective he can be this season in the club's 3-0 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane at the end of August, where he was also on the receiving end of a challenge that resulted in the Reds being awarded a penalty.
The midfielder is currently recovering from a slight knee injury which means he has missed the last two Liverpool games against Aston Villa in the Premier League and their Champions League opener against Ludogorets. However, he could be back in contention for this weekend's game against West Ham United at Upton Park.
