Microsoft’s second free game for Xbox 360 owners, Halo Reach, is now available to download for free.

That’s right, folks, we’re already halfway through September, and that means you can download the second free title on Xbox 360 with the Games with Gold program.

Earlier this month we reminded you that your first free game on Xbox 360 was available – Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine. Now, from today until the end of the September Xbox Live Gold members can download Bungie’s Halo: Reach completely free.

If you’re somehow unfamiliar with the Halo games, they’re mainly a series of first-person shooters that have received high praise over the years. Halo: Reach in particular is a prequel to the first Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved. In Reach players take on the role of Noble Six, a member of a spec ops unit. The game highlights the alien Covenant attack on the human world of Reach, following the destruction of many of the other human colonies by the aliens.

The game’s multiplayer has many common game modes such as ‘Slayer’, which is your standard free for all deathmatch affair, or Generator Defense which is a 3 on 3 match where one team must defend a series of generators whilst the other team defends them. A video showcasing some of the multiplayer is below.

Xbox Live Gold members that own an Xbox One can still download their two free games this month, which are Super Time Force and Crimson Dragon. Towards the end of September we should find out what October’s free games are, so we’ll update you as soon as the news drops.
