Dom Solanke has signed his first professional deal with Chelsea.
Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The England youth international is one of the most highly rated young forwards in England and the Blues deserve huge credit for getting him secured on his first pro deal at the club.
His chances of getting games in the first team this season look bleak but there is ample opportunity for him to grab Jose Mourinho’s attention in the youth ranks.
Chelsea are the holders of the under-21 Premier League title and they will also fancy their chances of winning the UEFA Youth League, the youth team equivalent of the Champions League.
The Blues already have three solid first team options in the form of Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy but a good run of form could see Solanke drafted in for domestic cup football this season.
If he plays well then, he won’t do himself any harm. It’s a great deal for the West Londoners.
