The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns 30-27 in their opening game last night but Antonio Brown's kick to the face of the Browns' Spencer Lanning was one of the highlights of the opening weekend.
Brown was attempting to hurdle Lanning whilst returning a punt in the second-quarter but he mistimed his jump and landed his boot in the face of the defending punter.
"I tried to get over him, there was no intent to hurt him. It was just a bad outcome of a play," Brown said after the game.
Brown looked destined to score a touchdown if Lanning hadn't got in his way but the karate kick was met with laughter from the home crowd, who saw their side beat the Browns at home for the 11th year in a row.
Cleveland made a solid comeback in the second-half, but a late Shaun Suisham kick secured the victory for Pittsburgh.
The Browns host the New Orleans Saints next Sunday as both side's will be looking for their first win of the new season, while Pittsburgh travel to AFC North rivals Baltimore on Thursday night.
