Report: Davide Petrucci's United contract terminated; heading for surprise destination

According to a report in Italy, Manchester United's Davide Petrucci has seen his contract terminated as he heads to Romania.

Manchester United midfielder Davide Petrucci has reportedly terminated his contract and is on his way to Romanian side FC Cluj.

That is the claim of Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio – a man in the know when it comes to transfer rumours.

It is being reported that the 22-year-old is heading to Romania to sign a one-year contract with the option of a further two years.

Petrucci signed for United back in 2008, when he arrived from Italian club Roma.

Huge things were expected of the attacking midfielder, but six years on and despite shining for the reserves Petrucci has failed to make a single appearance for the club’s senior side.

Loan spells at Royal Antwerp, Charlton Athletic and Peterborough United failed to push him into contention at Old Trafford, and it now seems he could be gone for good.

There is no clarification from United regarding the news at this stage, but Di Marzio claims the player – who was in the final year of his United contract – is on his way to Romania to finalise a deal that he will hope will finally kick-start his senior career.
