The Red Devils had a slow start to the transfer window, signing just Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Southampton left back Luke Shaw before the start of the season, but the 2-1 opening day defeat to Swansea City has sprung United into life.
Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo arrived for £16m, and his international team mate Angel Di Maria followed quickly in a £60m deal. With the transfer deadline approaching, Ajax's Daley Blind has joined for £14m, and Atletico Madrid's Falcao is set to make the shock move from Monaco to Old Trafford.
With so many incomings, players had to depart too, and that has seen Javier Hernandez sign for Real Madrid on loan for the season, whilst Nick Powell and Tom Lawrence are both set to join Premier League rivals Leicester City.
One player who looked set to follow Powell and Lawrence to another Premier League club was Tom Cleverley. The midfielder was the subject of interest from Aston Villa, Hull City and Valencia, with an £8m fee believed to be on the England international's head.
However, all three clubs appeared to have slipped behind Everton in the running for his signature, but it was tonight revealed that whilst Toffees boss Roberto Martinez wanted to reunite with his former Wigan midfielder Cleverley, the 25-year-old will be staying at Old Trafford.
