Torres: I'll get Milan back in Champions League

Fernando Torres has pledged to get AC Milan back into the Champions League as he prepares for his two-year loan from Chelsea.

Fernando Torres has arrived in Milan and stressed his delight at being able to help revive AC Milan's fortunes.

After days of talks, Milan and Chelsea appear to have agreed a two-year loan deal that effectively ends Torres's time at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish international arrives at a club that are looking to reverse a downward spiral that saw them fail to even qualify for the Europa League last season.

Just days after Mario Balotelli left for Liverpool, Torres has been greeted by enthusiastic crowds and seemed excited in his first interview in Italy.

"It's an honour and a privilege to wear this shirt," he told the club's official website.

"I want to get this team back in the Champions League and maybe even stay here for years.

"I already know some of the players here like Alex, Michael Essien and Diego Lopez and Demetrio Albertini also told me good things about Milan.

"I was very close to signing for Milan years ago when I was at Atletico Madrid. Now I want to make the fans that have awaited my arrival happy. I can't wait to start the new season."
