Magical Spurs goal had 48 passes - and every player was involved!

Tottenham may have scored one of the best team goals in Premier League history during their match with QPR, twice the number of the top 2013-14 goal.

Tottenham played some scintillating stuff during their 4-0 win over QPR on Sunday afternoon. But an amazing team goal polished off by Nacer Chadli, with the side putting together an outrageous 48 pass move, was something special.

The fact that it was Mauricio Pochettino's home debut, not to mention 20-year-old defender Eric Dier's first home appearance, didn't faze the side whatsoever.

Spurs raced into a 3-0 lead by half time, with an early goal by Nacer Chadli followed by a header by Eric Dier. But it was that third goal, a second strike by Chadli that really caught the eye.

It wasn't just Erik Lamela's wonderful run and cross, expertly nodded past Rob Green, that was so impressive. It was as much about the lead up to the goal.

The 37th minute header by the Belgian came about after 48 consecutive passes by Spurs, with every single player on the pitch for the home side passing the ball at least once.

Starting with Jan Vertonghen in defence, the ball made its way across the back four and to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, before coming forward again down the left flank. By the time it made its way to 22-year-old Lamela in a central position 35 yards out, there was only one pass left, and it needed some superb speed and dribbling to open up that cross, met by former Twente star Chadli for his second of the game.

Below is a list of all those who took part in the move:

Etienne Capoue - 14 passes, Jan Vertonghen – 10, Nabil Bentaleb - 6, Younes Kaboul – 4, Erik Lamela - 3, Danny Rose – 3, Nacer Chadli - 2, Eric Dier - 2, Emmanuel Adebayor – 2, Christian Eriksen - 1, Hugo Lloris - 1

It harked back to Argentina's famous 26 pass goal in the World Cup in 2006, scored by Esteban Cambiasso. But even that didn't have the wonderful cross and finish that Chadli's effort did, not to mention it being nearly half the passes.

Not a bad way for Tottenham, and Mauricio Pochettino, to introduce White Hart Lane to the 2014-15 season I'm sure you'll agree.
