Angel Di Maria’s future at Real Madrid has been the subject of much speculation so far this summer.
Manchester United are interested in signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.
Balague took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon as part of his work for Bleacher Report, and lifted the lid on all the speculation surrounding United and Di Maria.
The Reds are interested in signing the Argentine from Madrid, with only the asking price holding up a deal being done.
Balague says that United want him, but the asking price for the midfielder, which is in excess of €65million, is too high for the club, and that it will go down to the wire on transfer deadline day.

Balague, who is also the go-to man for all things Spanish football for Sky Sports, also said that Di Maria’s earnings are his biggest problem with the club, and that Financial Fair Play regulations continue to prevent Paris Saint-Germain from signing him.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be keen on keeping Di Maria at the Bernabéu, but is fighting a losing battle against executives at the club, who want to sell him to fund the purchase of Radamel Falcao from Monaco.
Manchester United fans are certainly keen for manager Louis Van Gaal to add to his squad following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea, as problems stretching back to last season continue to affect their results.
