Real Madrid star has responded to a challenge set his former United team-mate, and has nominated some star names.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to a challenge laid down by his former Manchester United team-mate Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher was filmed last week taking on the ‘ice bucket’ challenge, where his United colleagues revelled in soaking the Scot in cold water.

On completion of the task, Fletcher nominated Ronaldo to be the next big-name to endure the ice bucket, and the Portuguese forward has now responded.

A video has been released of Ronaldo’s Madrid team-mates pouring the bucket of water onto him, and the 29-year-old has now nominated some big names to take on the challenge.

Pop stars Beyonce and Jenifer Lopez were selected by Ronaldo, along with Lil Wayne to endure the ice bucket.

Ronaldo and Madrid seem in good spirits following their victory in the UEFA Super Cup Final last week, where they beat Spanish rivals Sevilla 2-1.

The European Champions will now bid for their second of six possible trophies this season when they take on Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup Final on Tuesday.

Atletico, as winners of La Liga last season, will take on Real after they defeated them to win the Champions League back in May. The final is two-legged, with the first taking place on Tuesday, and the decisive second on Friday.

Real will be favourites considering their activity in the transfer market this summer, where the likes of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos have arrived at the Bernabéu.

Atletico meanwhile have lost star striker Diego Costa, Filipe Luís and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea, and face an uphill task to defend their league title.
