Charlton reportedly looking to sign Costa Rican midfielder

The Addicks are reportedly in talks with AIK Stockholm over the signing of Costa Rican midfielder Celso Borges, who shone for his nation at the World Cup.

Charlton have already added several new faces and are now looking to bring in one of the World Cup's lesser-known stars in Costa Rica's Celso Borges, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

The 26-year-old plays his football in Sweden for AIK Stockholm but could be the latest Costa Rican to make a summer switch following Los Ticos impressive showing in Brazil.

Charlton are believed to be in talks to sign the attacking midfielder, and will hope to wrap up a deal before the end of the month.

The Addicks got their Championship campaign up and running with a 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday and the addition of the experienced Borges would undoubtedly improve the midfield.

Borges appeared in every game for Costa Rica as they reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup against all odds, and was heavily involved as he enjoyed an average of 49.20 touches per game.

He is currently playing with AIK Stockholm in the middle of their domestic campaign, and he has already scored four goals in 15 games for the Swedish side.

A move to Charlton would give Borges the opportunity to play his football in England and he will surely be keen on the switch if an agreement between the two clubs in reached.
