Transfer Bin: Agger linked with controversial Manchester United move

Daniel Agger has been linked with an unlikely move from Liverpool to Manchester United.

A report in the Surrey Mirror point to Spain features in HITC’s Transfer Bin, with the suggestion that Manchester United have been considering a late bid to sign Daniel Agger from Liverpool.

“REPORTS from Spain suggest Barcelona could face competition to sign Liverpool defender Daniel Agger - from Premier League rivals Manchester United,” reports the SM.

The arrival of Dejan Lovren at Anfield has created the idea that a central defender will have to leave the Reds before the end of the summer and Agger’s name has been mentioned in several reports.

As terrific a signing for United as Agger would be, it’s a deal which simply isn’t going to happen.

Agger is a die hard Liverpool player and popular with the club’s fans because of his undoubting commitment towards the club.

Agger has several tattoos all over his body with various tributes to the club he currently represents, which would look just a little bit silly if he made the move to Old Trafford.

That relationship with the fans is also something that would disintegrate if he signed for Liverpool’s arch rivals.

Therefore, it’s extremely doubtful that Agger would be willing to accept a move to United on a personal level regardless of whether it made sense on a professional one for the rest of his career.

Barcelona are reportedly looking at a deal for Agger, which is something Liverpool would be far more open to than selling him to United.

Regardless of the fact United finished seventh in the Premier League last season, Liverpool will consider them a threat heading into the new domestic campaign.

In short, Liverpool are unlikely to sell one of their best and most experienced defenders to a side they are likely to be competing against for the top places in the league over the next 12 months.

Rubbish Rating: It’s about as likely to happen as Wayne Rooney moving to Anfield and Barca stand the best chance of signing him if reports of their interest are accurate.
