Southampton and West Brom linked to Parma star

Reports in the local Italian press, suggest that Southampton and West Bromwich Albion are keeping tabs on Parma star Jonathan Biabiany.

Jonathan Biabiany had an excellent 2013-14 campaign with Parma and his efforts may have attracted the attention of some Premier League suitors.

The French winger is known for his explosive pace and has been frequently linked with Juventus over the last couple of years.

Sunderland came close to signing Biabiany when Paolo Di Canio was at the helm, but his value must have risen last season.

A French Under-21 international, Biabiany had huge potential but there's a feeling in Italy that it is only now at 26 that he is starting to fulfil his promise.

While his blistering acceleration, pace and energy have never been questioned, the final product has sometimes been lacking.

According to reports in the Gazzetta di Parma, Premier League sides Southampton and West Brom have approached Parma to ask for details about the player's availability and value.

In January there were reported approaches from AC Milan, Lazio and Marcello Lippi's Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, but Parma resisted.

Milan looked likely to have a quiet transfer window but replacing Allegri with Seedorf seems to have signalled a new transfer strategy.

The Diavolo have already signed Michael Essien from Chelsea and made a surprise move for Adel Taarabt and now they are attempting to lure highly rated winger Jonathan Biabiany.

Biabiany nearly signed for Sunderland last summer but instead he stayed at Parma where he has been magnificent so far this term.

West Brom are in need of wide men after Morgan Amalfitano and Scott Sinclair left.
