Manchester United transfer news: Boss admits £10m target could leave; £11m winger move in doubt

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been talking about reported Manchester United target Thomas Vermaelen, with the Daily Star Sunday reporting that the Frenchman is preparing for life without the Belgian.

United have been linked with a £10million move for the centre-back, and in response to the rumours, Wenger said, “I cannot guarantee he will stay, but should he go I would bring another centre-back in for sure.”

United are in need of one if not two quality central defenders and Vermaelen’s flexibility would be another big selling point.

In other news, the Express reports that AC Milan are refusing to pay United’s £11million asking price for Nani.

The Portuguese winger has been tipped to leave Old Trafford for some time, and the Italian giants are reportedly keen; but seemingly not for that price.

The report claims that United are not willing to let Nani go on the cheap after he signed a five-year deal at the club. However, despite plenty of suitors allegedly looking in his direction, it seems they may have to reduce the fee before they do anything more than look.
