League One transfer latest: Swindon eye loan deal for Southampton youngster

All the latest summer transfer rumours from League One...

Yeovil Town are looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking, and manager Gary Johnson will fancy his chances of a promotion challenge. The Glovers have now put the finishing touches on something of a swap deal with League One rivals Bristol City, as the clubs have essentially swapped right backs - Luke Ayling heads to Ashton Gate, whilst Brendan Moloney will join Yeovil after his Robins contract was cancelled.

"As soon as I was made aware that Brendan was available, we moved quickly," said manager Gary Johnson. "We began talking to Brendan without the knowledge that Bristol City were interested in Luke. We didn't know about Luke's potential move until just under a week ago.

"I am very happy with the business our club has done, I was surprised that Luke went to Bristol City but both players are good signings for their clubs."

Barnsley are also in the same boat having been relegated last season, but manager Danny Wilson has been dealt a blow with the news that the Tykes will listen to offers for star striker Chris O'Grady, as well as defenders Martin Cranie and Tom Kennedy. Fans will have been hoping that the trio would all play key parts as the Oakwell club look to mount a promotion bid, but this is a huge blow to their chances.

Swindon Town don't have a huge transfer budget to spend this summer, but manager Mark Cooper will be looking for his young side to develop again next season. Chairman Lee Power has admitted that the club have eyes on Southampton centre back Jack Stephens, who spend two months on loan at the County Ground last term.

"We have had conversations with Southampton," Power revealed,"They are aware we like the lad and I think he really enjoyed his time here."
