Tottenham latest: Club linked with Hector Moreno and Memphis Depay

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tottenham will try and sign Espanyol defender Hector Moreno according to TalkSport.

It has been widely reported that new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to strengthen his defence and it is said they are making a move for the 26-year-old Mexican, who is currently participating at the World Cup.

Manchester United and Inter Milan are also said to be interested in Moreno.

The Daily Star is reporting that Spurs will also battle it out with United for Memphis Depay, with the report claiming that a £17 million bid for the Dutch international.

The winger has been tipped to join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United according to the report, after the 20-year-old winger had an impressive season in the Eredivisie for PSV - and scored the winner in the Netherlands' 3-2 win over Australia at the World Cup on Wednesday.

Away from transfers and midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has been talking to the official Tottenham website about the season ahead, as well as reflecting on the previous campaign.

He admitted it wasn't the best of seasons for Spurs but seemed to be positive looking ahead to the new campaign.

He said: “If you look at the final points total, we’re only three off our record haul and yet we only got one point against the top four teams, so if we can change that, we can push on again next season.

“The results against Liverpool, City and Chelsea away make it look a lot worse, even though we admit it wasn’t the best of seasons.

“The new lads have all had a full season, they are settled in now and that’s good for the club. Let’s hope we can kick-on.”
