'Now, I laugh' - Bruno Martins Indi on that Diego Costa headbutt

Bruno Martins Indi has spoken of the headbutt by Diego Costa he received at the World Cup.

Spanish and world football could be left in shock later this evening - with the potential of elimination from the World Cup they are attempting to defend.

It comes after they were comprehensively thrashed by The Netherlands in their opening game - a 5-1 win reverberating around the football world.

The performance of Holland's forwards was obviously superb, however the defence were also exceptional. Stefan de Vrij and Ron Vlaar were immense - as was Bruno Martins Indi.

He was faced with the imposing figure of Diego Costa. The Atletico Madrid striker, who won the Spanish penalty under a challenge from de Vrij, is all set to join Chelsea this summer - for a fee of £32 million.

Costa is a rumbustious offender to deal with but Martins Indi showed just why he is also being linked with a move to the Premier League - Manchester United being linked with his signature.

And he certainly showed why he could cut it in the Premier League including when it comes to mixing it up with somebody like Costa. The two squared up after an apparent headbutt from Costa - which has since gone viral...

Now Indi has spoken about the incident, stating that after the 5-1 thrashing he was not so bothered about the incident:

"It's an action, Costa totally surprised me. He even gave me a head butt. It was not a heavy blow, but it was [a headbutt]! Therefore I went down. However, the referee saw nothing wrong in the gesture of Diego Costa. They thought I was pretending. Well, not really happened. Now, I laugh at the incident. Now I prefer to remember the euphoria of the end of the game when we won 5-1."
