Norwich loanee Johan Elmander set to join Bastia, thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Claude Makelele wants to lure the Swede to Bastia, courtesy of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's praise for his international teammate.

The 33-year old, currently contracted to Turkish outfit Galatasaray, spent the 2013/14 season on loan at Norwich City, failing to prevent their relegation to the Championship.

The former Bolton star - who, in a poll taken by The Guardian, scored the greatest ever Premier League goal - has featured 79 times for his country - regularly as strike partner for world football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

And, according to Svenskafans, it is due to Ibrahimovic that former Chelsea legend Claude Makelele intends to bring Elmander to his new club, Bastia.

Makelele, who spent an incredibly successful five year spell with the Blues, joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2008 as a player, before being named Carlo Ancelotti's assistant manager at the Parc des Princes. Makelele was in this capacity during the arrival of Ibrahimovic from AC Milan, and for the duration PSG's title winning season.

Having been appointed manager of SC Bastia in May 2014, Makelele is preparing his side for his first managerial role, and, thanks to discussions with Ibrahimovic concerning Elmander's talents, he intends to bring the Swede in to lead his striking force in Ligue 1 next season.

Elmander has experience of French football, having spent a two year spell with Toulouse before signing for Bolton in 2008, scoring 22 goals in 64 appearances.

Despite nearing the end of his career, and only scoring one goal in his 28 appearances with the Canaries this season, to be highly regarded by icons of Makelele and Ibrahimovic's standing suggests that Elmander still has the quality to be a success with I Turchini - and the fans that flock to Stade Armand Cesari will be hoping that the legends of the game are correct.
