Upcoming features that will be included in the next generation versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online.
After E3 2014, most of you should be aware that GTA V has not only been announced and showcased for the PS4 and Xbox One, but it has also been confirmed for PC and these updated versions will be launched this Autumn/Fall. One thing that is particularly exciting about the Next Gen upgrade are the new features which have been introduced. Of course, there is also a significantly likely possibility that features which were cut from the launch on the current gen consoles last September
Hunter Attack Helicopter:
Possibly the most likely to make the next gen launch, the Hunter attack helicopter was confirmed before the release of GTA V last September. Advertised in a screenshot promoting the in game website “Warstock Cache and Carry”. The hunter can be seen in the bottom right corner of the screenshot below and appears in the movie trailer for “The Simian”. “This Summer” could hint at an upcoming feature for GTA V which may potentially include the Hunter helicopter.
The Hunter was in the Beta of GTA V alongside an ATV, APC and another jet. Below is both a screenshot and a trailer:
Simian Trailer: (Being GTA its NSFW)
Confirmed by Rockstar, a new type of shark will be swimming in the waters of Los Santos and Blaine County, the Hammerhead. A school of hammerhead sharks can be seen swimming in the new trailer for the Next Gen and PC versions of the game. It is likely that these are not the only new members of wildlife which will be appearing this fall. Below is a screenshot from the trailer.
Hydra fighter Jet:
The VTOL has been a matter of speculation since the audio files were found, but the Hydra fighter jet was initially cut from launch on the PS3 and Xbox 360. This could potentially be included in the Next Gen and PC versions of the game in addition to the various new features. You may be thinking, what is the difference between the Hydra and the P-996 Lazer? Well unlike the Lazer, the Hydra is a VTOL with hover functionality, in one of the trailers, the hydra is also seen firing two missiles simultaneously and will likely have a faster firing rate for missiles, the hydra however would not have explosive auto-cannons and would have instead featured anti-armour machine guns.
Rockstar have said that they want to push GTA Online to its full capabilities with the next gen and PC versions of the game and for GTA Online, this likely means the inclusion of wildlife. There are several new “game world enhancements that include new wildlife, upgraded weather and damage effects, and an array of new details to discover. The new generation upgrades also extend to Grand Theft Auto Online, an ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe.”
“Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North’s epic reimagining of Southern California.”
The PC, PS4 and Xbox One can definitely support the addition, and existing animals such as birds, sharks (including the new hammerhead sharks), mountain lions, deer and wild boar will likely be making an appearance on GTA Online. Since the wildlife has been upgraded, it is likely that we will be seeing new types of animals in the game aswell.
New Jobs, Weapons, Vehicles, Properties and Customization Options:
Rockstar have confirmed that “an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations” will be available for the next gen consoles.
