Mizuho announces senior hires to expand European Capital Markets business

Mizuho International continues to strengthen its Fixed Income business with senior-level hires.

In addition to Andrew Jarman, who joins this month as Managing Director, other key London appointments in the last 12 months include Managing Directors, Jean-Baptiste Aussourd, Vincenzo Treggiari, Diego Urra, Glenn Anson and Executive Directors Mark Shillam and Michel Ramon. These hires will help to grow the existing Fixed Income platform and diversify the business into strategically important new product lines.

In a move that is designed to further enhance the leadership of the team, Yasuhiro Shibata has moved from Tokyo to join the London team as Deputy President & Head of Global Markets EMEA. His high level experience within the Mizuho Group will be instrumental in supporting the development of the Fixed Income business in EMEA and ensuring that it is fully integrated into the global business.

Under the leadership of Nic Pourcelet and Graham Halliday, the business has undertaken a significant programme of change to ensure that it is well positioned for sustainable growth in the new regulatory environment. In addition to introducing a new business platform for Emerging Markets, Mizuho International has made significant progress in growing its Credit and Rates businesses and strengthening its product offering to Central Bank and Sovereign Wealth Fund investors.

Commenting on the developments, Nicolas Pourcelet, Head of Fixed Income Sales, commented: 'In the past 12 months we have identified opportunities to diversify our revenue streams in response to regulatory changes that have impacted the whole market. Yasuhiro Shibata, Deputy President & Head of Global Markets EMEA, added: 'EMEA is a key hub for the Mizuho Group’s global Fixed Income business. Andrew Jarman joins on 16 June 2014 as Managing Director, Head of High-Beta Credit Trading, from Deutsche Bank AG where he was Head of European High Yield Trading, Global Credit. Jarman will play an integral role in strengthening the Credit business going forward.

Jean-Baptiste Aussourd joined on 20 May 2014 as Managing Director, Head of European Rates Sales, from RBC London where he was Head of Rates Sales for France, Benelux & Switzerland. Working closely with Diego Urra, Aussourd will lead the development of Mizuho’s Rates platform and strengthen Mizuho’s product offering to institutional clients.

Vincenzo Treggiari joined on 8 April 2014 as Managing Director, Head of Structured Solutions Southern EU, from Goldman Sachs where he was Head of Italy Insurance Solution Sales. Treggiari will develop the quality and depth of client relationships in Southern Europe and further strengthen the Solutions platform.

Diego Urra joined in October 2013 as Managing Director, Head of European Rates Trading, from Credit Suisse where he was Head of European short end Government Trading and Peripheral Markets. He brings over 15 years of financial markets experience as a market maker with expertise managing client flow and developing trading platforms.

Glenn Anson joined in July 2013 as Managing Director, Head of Central Bank Sales for EMEA and Global coordinator, from RBC Capital Markets where he was Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Central Bank Sales. Anson’s Central Bank Sales expertise will be instrumental to enhance Mizuho International’s positioning with core investors.

Mark Shillam joined in August 2013 as Executive Director, Head of Emerging Markets. He will focus on trading and market making core Emerging Markets products in CEEMEA. Shillam joined from Credit Suisse where he was Senior Emerging Markets Hard Currency Trader.

Michel Ramon joined in September 2013 as Executive Director, Head of German Sales. Ramon joined from Royal Bank of Scotland where he was a Director responsible for sales to the German and Austrian client base.
