Magpies winger Hatem ben Arfa is reportedly set to leave Newcastle this summer having fallen out of favour with boss Alan Pardew after an alleged bust-up. However, former Newcastle hero David Ginola has urged the club to remain patient with the former Lyon and Marseille man, saying he has the ability and flair to make an impact.
"He could potentially be the guy who could bring back the flair and the great games that we used to play under Kevin Keegan, the great spirit," said Ginola. "He’s that kind of player. But he seems unhappy."
"In football you need a smile on your face every day, if you want to play good football," continued the Frenchman. "If you’re not smiling you’re not playing great football. You’ve got to be happy to be able to play well."
The club are widely expected to rebuild their squad this summer, and ben Arfa may not be the only Frenchman to leave Tyneside this summer, with former Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy remaining very coy over rumours suggesting he could move on from the club.
"No, honestly, I did not hear about any talks over a possible transfers to table," he admitted "For my part, I do not feel affected by it. I leave it to my agents to manage that and I remain focused on the World Cup."
Another Frenchman has been linked with an exit from St. James' Park, yet this time it's centre back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. The former Montpellier man arrived at the club in January 2013, but has been in and out of the side, leading Ligue 1 side Bordeaux to be linked with a swoop this summer in a bid to take him back to France.
