Juan Iturbe has completed a switch from Porto to Hellas Verona, after spending a campaign on loan in Italy.

Liverpool will be in the market to improve their squad this summer, with Juan Iturbe a player that they have long been speculated as having an interest in.

The talented Argentine attacker, labeled ‘the next Messi’, has just had a wonderful campaign in Italy with Hellas Verona.

The South American was on loan from Porto, and the Estadio do Dragao club have confirmed that they have signed a permanent deal to sell Iturbe to the Italians.

The Serie A side have exercised the option to buy after his temporary spell in Italy, with the deal expected to cost in the region of €15 million.

Although on first sight this may look like bad news for Liverpool, if Brendan Rodgers’ men are still keen on Iturbe it could work in their favour.

Had the Argentine returned to Porto, he would have had the chance to play Champions League football if he could break into the first team.

After struggling with injuries, the Denmark international found himself behind the likes of Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho in the pecking order at Anfield.

With question marks over where Agger will play his football next season, Denmark’s national coach Morten Olsen has suggested that the star could well be better suited to a transfer this summer.

“I won’t ask Daniel about it,” Olsen told Danish newspaper
