PHOTO: Injury ravaged Chelsea starlet arrives for World Cup training

Marco van Ginkel has posted a picture on his Facebook page arriving in Holland to start World Cup training after an amazing injury comeback.

Marco Van Ginkel’s first season at Chelsea has not exactly gone to plan. The Dutch international was snapped up in July of last year for a fee in the region of £8 million from Vitesse Arnhem.

Jose Mourinho was said to be a big fan of the young maestro - and used him at the start of the Premier League campaign. He came on as a second half substitute against Hull City and Aston Villa in the early Premier League sparring and also featured against FC Basel in the Champions League.

But on the 24th September his season and World Cup dream was said to be finished - after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

However he made an earlier than expected return from his troubles - featuring against Manchester United in the Under-21 league in March- and has since been playing more and more regularly for the age group side.

But his remarkable comeback just had a new chapter written in - a chapter which could see him on the plane to Brazil after all.

PSV Eindhoven starlet Jurgen Locadia has unfortunately picked up a groin injury and Van Ginkel has been called up to replace him by Louis Van Gaal.

Whether he can make it to Brazil or not remains to be seen.
