Chamakh: I want to see Arsenal in the Champions League

Crystal Palace striker comments show he has no bad feeling towards his former club.

Former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh played a vital role in Crystal Palace's surprise win at Everton in midweek, doing his old side a favour in the process.

As a result of the 3-2 midweek win, the Gunners now have their fate in their own hands as they seek to clinch fourth spot and Champions League qualification.

Chamakh spent three seasons at Arsenal before leaving on a free last summer, but they are still a club he clearly cares about, having shown the faith to bring him to the Premier League.

After the midweek win at Goodison Park, Chamakh is quoted by the Sevenoaks Chronicle as saying:

"I want to see Arsenal in the Champions League next season, it was important for us to win and for Arsenal too."

The Moroccan striker has reinvented himself as a valuable Premier League performer this season for the newly promoted Eagles.

His goal tally of five in 24 games has done little to indicate Arsenal were wrong to let him go, but it is good to see him enjoying his football again, and helping the Gunners out in midweek may turn out to be his best contribution to the club since his switch to England.
