United morning news: Midfield target rules out move; swap-deal linked

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

With Manchester United not in action this weekend, most of the talk has been about possible summer transfer activity.

There are a number of stories doing the rounds this morning, including the Express’s report that Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has no intention of signing for United – or any club for that matter – in the foreseeable future.

The Spanish side are flying high both in La Liga and in the Champions League, and Koke is quoted as saying, “I am very happy and I do not think about leaving the club right now.

“I am happy at home. I want to continue here and that is why I have a long contract.

“Now is the best moment to enjoy being at Atletico. My future here will be long.”

In truth United have not been linked with Koke for some time, with the likes of Toni Kroos, Marco Reus and William Carvalho more regularly tipped to join David Moyes’ side.

But those are not the names in the gossip columns today.

The Daily Star Sunday claims United would be willing to offer Nani in any deal to bring Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese winger is expected to leave United his summer, but whether or not the French side would agree to such a deal given the wingers currently at their disposal remains to be seen.

And finally, it is back to the Express, which claims Moyes is interested in a double-raid for Southampton pair Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.

This one has been around for a while but while the left-back could be an excellent replacement for Patrice Evra, we are not so sure United will move for Lallana given the other midfielders currently in the mix – provided they can get one of them, of course.
