With Hamburg’s threat of relegation in the Bundesliga this season, a number of Premier League sides have been linked with eyeing up their prize assets.
One of the German club’s brightest stars is playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, who has been coined as ‘the next Ozil’ in some quarters due to his individual ability and vision.
However, despite the rumblings of a move to England, the midfielder’s agent has poured cold water on claims that Calhanoglu could jump ship in the summer.
"The lad has always said he is a Hamburg player. He only signed a new contract in the winter until June 2018,” Bektas Demirtas told the Hamburger Morgenpost.
"He signed it because he has a future plan. His plan is to be a success at Hamburg in the next few years.
"The rumours are usual, but they will have no impact on Hakan."
Should Hamburg be relegated the story may well be different, but for the time being it appears that Premier League suitors will need to look to other targets.
Calhanoglu has scored nine Bundesliga goals in 23 starts for Hamburg this season.
