United morning news: Kagawa loan, Zaha exit & German defender linked

A select round-up of news and transfer rumours relating to Manchester United

There is plenty of transfer news around this morning concerning Manchester United, but there is not much that strikes us as particularly believable.

The Mirror has picked up on initial claims from the Sun that Shinji Kagawa could be heading back to Borussia Dortmund on loan.

If it was a permanent deal we could understand it; after all, despite impressing in the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa – and having talent in abundance – the Japanese player has failed to make a consistent mark under David Moyes.

But on loan? Let’s mark that one as ‘highly unlikely’.

And why not do the same for the Sun’s claim that United are willing to take a significant hit on Wilfried Zaha by selling him for just £5million?

Has his stock really plummeted that much in the space of 12 months?

Yes he has struggled to break into United’s first-team, and he has only shown in brief glimpses what he can do at Cardiff City, but it was his cross that led to the last-gasp goal for the Bluebirds on Saturday, and the England winger still has plenty of time to improve.

And finally, the Express has picked up on reports from German newspaper Bild that claim United are interested in another Bayern Munich player – this time Jerome Boateng.

They will be on the look-out for defensive reinforcements with Nemanja Vidic set to depart this summer and the former Manchester City man is the latest to have his name thrown into the hypothetical hat.
