€13m Arsenal goal-machine target watched by Everton scouts - and he scored a brace

Everton are likely to rival Arsenal for the signature of Josip Drmic after the player bagged brace in front of scouts this week.

Arsenal need to bring in a new striker as Olivier Giroud has led the line alone this season with summer signing Yaya Sanogo out injured for most of this season and Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski also having been crocked.

As for Nicklas Bendtner - his support has been minimal.

One player who has been linked with that exact move last week has been FC Nurnberg striker Josip Drmic.

The 21-year-old Swiss international signed for the Bundesliga club last summer - and has gone on to score 15 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances for the club - the latest of which came this week.

He bagged a brace in a relegation six-pointer against VfB Stuttgart - and despite reports of a reported release clause of around €4.2 million his value is said to actually be nearer the €13 million in recent reports.

The fact remains that Drmic is likely to be available in the summer. Nurnberg are battling relegation and the clubs managing director Martin Bader recently stated:

"I'm not going to stand there and say, Josip is not for sale."

Of course Arsenal are not alone. Hertha Berlin were previously mentioned while Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keen.

And now it is reported in German paper Bild that Everton scouts watched him bag that Stuttgart brace.

The Toffees are after a new striker to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku and Lacina Traore at the end of the season - when their respective loan deals finish.

And it appears the Swiss international is now on their radar.

Everton have recently beaten Arsenal to the signings of Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy - this summer it might just be Drmic.
