A friend from the Real Oviedo academy days has posted a pic of Santi Cazorla on Twitter.

Arsene Wenger has now announced his belief that his Arsenal side are out of the title race – as a 2-2 draw with Swansea City yesterday left them trailing in the wake of the swashbuckling Liverpool, dynamic Manchester City and powerful Chelsea.

In fact – they need to start looking over their shoulders. North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are on the prowl while Everton are on the warpath in the hunt for a Champions League place.

It would certainly be somewhat embarrassing if, after being in the title run-in for most of the season, the Gunners slipped to fifth or even potentially sixth in the league table – but with their injury problems and current downbeat mood around the club it is genuine possibility.

So Santi Cazorla is already having something of a bad day – which makes you wonder why he would have retweeted this pic.

That is little Santi when he was a kid, and about the same size as he is today by the looks of things.

The pic was uploaded by his former Real Oviedo youth team-mate Robi Toral who currently plays for Tercera Division outfit CD Lealtad – a small club playing at the fourth tier of the Spanish football system.

Cheers mate – but at least it was a nice message from an old friend.

Congratulations @RealOviedo always proud to have defended that shirt with great friends! @#19Scazorla RealOviedo pic.

And Santi must have liked it.

I mean he did retweet it after all…
