United playmaker target not interested in Napoli links

Everton Ribeiro has stated that he is happy in his homeland and that “the time for speculation is over.”

With Manchester United in the market for a creative midfielder, the Premier League champions were linked consistently with a move for Brazilian playmaker Everton Ribeiro over the summer.

The Cruzeiro midfielder played a significant role in helping his side become Brazilian champions last term, and is hot property on the transfer market.

Napoli are the latest club to be linked with a move for the South American schemer, however the player has stated that he is not interested in a transfer at this time.

“The time for speculation is over,” he told UOL, reported by Sambafoot.

“I am now focusing on my games and improving so everything works out.”

Ribeiro has also been overlooked by Luiz Felipe Scolari for the national side, with many in Brazil campaigning the attacker’s merits for a call-up.

For the time being it appears that Ribeiro will remain in his homeland, with a much-anticipated move to Europe on the back burner.
