Jesse Lingard is adjudged as one of the brightest prospects in the Manchester United reserve ranks, with the youngster having an eventful debut for Brighton on Saturday.

The England under-21 attacker is set to play out the remainder of the season on loan at The American Express Community Stadium, and started his first game for the club yesterday.

Brighton travelled to Millwall, with hope that a positive result could their Championship play-off hopes alive.

Lingard won a penalty in the first-half after being fouled by Danny Shittu in the box, which was duly converted on 39 minutes by David Lopez.

The United loan star was then removed on 65 minutes after a promising debut.

Brighton hung on to win 1-0 at The Den, which means Lingard’s adopted side are in eighth place in The Championship, three points off the play-off places.

United fans will hope that the young star gets exposure to regular first-team football at Brighton, with hopes that he can follow in the footsteps of Adnan Januzaj and be in the reckoning for a place in David Moyes’ side next term.
