After a statue of the ex-Gunner was unveiled at the Emirates Stadium, the current German playmaker had a chance to meet the star.

Dennis Bergkamp And Mesut Ozil

Dennis Bergkamp was honoured this week with a new statue at the Emirates Stadium, with the Dutch maestro warmly remembered for his time with Arsenal.

The skillful attacker played 315 Premier League games over 11 years at the north London club, scoring 87 goals in the process.

Now a coach at Ajax, Bergkamp is being rumoured as a possible addition to the Gunners backroom staff in the future.

However, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that he believes the former Woflsburg targetman could stay with Pep Guardiola’s men next term – and maybe even renew his contract.

“I have confidence he will stay,” the Bayern CEO told Mesut Ozil’s summer addition, natural comparisons between the club record transfer and their former charge have been made.

Although the Germany international has had a slump in form recently, he has showcased individual skill, creativity and vision akin to what Arsenal fans became used to with Bergkamp on the pitch.
