Lord Sugar: Ozil is a dud like Soldado

Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar has twisted the knife with regard to Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal record Mesut Ozil had a game to forget against Bayern Munich, when it had began so well.

A stunning piece of trickery to win a penalty against Jerome Boateng indicated all was going to plan, but it went downhill fast from there.

Ozil appeared to be affected by the penalty miss, struggling to regain his composure, with Arsene Wenger stating in his post-game press conference:

"You could see, five, ten mins later, he was still shaking his head."

After the high praise lauded on him when he first arrived, Ozil's under performance in the big games is being scrutinised more than ever.

Even former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar is getting in on the act, firing off a couple of Tweets comparing his poor impact to Spurs signing Roberto Soldado.

Soldado has been a serious disappointment since arriving at Spurs for £26 million in the summer, and has scored just one Premier League goal from open play.

With Ozil going missing here with his reputation in the big matches under scrutiny, his overall debut season is suddenly looking very mixed, but not irretrievable.

Last night he made just 43 touches, which as you can see below is lower than any amount he has made in a Premier League game in which he has played 70 minutes or more.

Ozil is too talented to write off, and many would agree Soldado is too although he has shown even less so far than the German. With three months to go of the Premier League season, it would surely be good for the neutral to see both talented players get back to their best.
