Report: Parma prepare summer swoop for Man United striker

The long-term future of Manchester United striker Federico Macheda remains unclear, but Serie A side Parma may be ready to step in.

Federico Macheda has been rejuvenated by a loan move to Birmingham but his long-term future may well lie back in his homeland.

Macheda arrived at Manchester United as a teen sensation who had been widely tipped for the very top of the world game.

But life in Manchester didn't work out for the striker and he found himself sent on numerous loan deals where he largely failed to impress.

The player's agent had called on United to let him leave permanently before his contract expires at the end of the season, but a loan deal to Birmingham seems to be working out.

Macheda netted twice last weekend to give Birmingham an important 2-0 win over Charlton and take his tally to three goals in two games.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Macheda's efforts have been keenly noted by Serie A side Parma.

But if he does, could he have a long-term future at Birmingham - or even United?
