Consensus opinion states one of current top four - Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea or Liverpool - will claim the FA Cup, but one pundit says different.
Two members of the current top four positions in the Premier League will fail to progress into the FA Cup quarterfinal as Manchester City and Chelsea were paired with each other while Arsenal were drawn against Liverpool in the next stage of the competition, scheduled to take place on the weekend of February 15/16.
With a brace of tournament favourites eliminated, the competition opens up and Stan Collymore, host on talkSPORT radio and prolific Twitterer, has tipped Everton to go all the way, a side who are tasked with taking on Swansea City at Goodison Park.
Fancy Everton for the Cup this year. Even more so after the draw.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 26, 2014
Everton have played just twice in the FA Cup so far this season but in both games they returned 4-0 victories - the first over QPR at home and the second, more recently, on Saturday, January 25, away to Stevenage.
Under the tutelage of Roberto Martinez, the Toffees have developed into a team with both style and steel and have registered a number of good results and elite teams in the Premier League, including a 1-0 victory over Chelsea, a 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford and a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, with a number of Gunners reflecting post-match that, to that point, Everton had provided them with their most stringent test.
Below is the fifth round draw in full…
Manchester City v Chelsea
Sheffield United or Fulham v Nottingham Forest or Preston North End
Arsenal v Liverpool
Brighton & Hove Albion v Hull City
Cardiff City v Wigan Athletic
Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton Athletic
Sunderland v Southampton
Everton v Swansea City
