Totti: We're as good as Juventus

Roma star Francesco Totti believes that today's win over Hellas Verona demonstrates that his side are as good as Juventus.

Roma have cut Juventus' lead at the top of Serie A to six points after beating a spirited Hellas Verona side 3-1.

Juventus finally dropped points last night when they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Lazio having seen goalkeeper Gigi Buffon sent off.

And Roma took advantage by seeing off Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi in an entertaining encounter.

Roma took the lead through Adem Ljajic, were pegged back by Emil Hallfredsson but Gervinho's individual effort put them back on track and Totti rounded off the win from the penalty spot.

After the game, Totti revelled in the victory and insisted that it shows Juventus are catchable in the Scudetto race.

"Today it was important to send a strong message," Totti told Sky Italia after the final whistle.

"Yesterday Juventus took a false step and we absolutely had to win. We have shown that we are at the same level as the Bianconeri."

Totti was asked to comment on Gervinho who has been superb for Roma this season after failing to show his full potential at Arsenal.

"Gervinho's goal? He can do these things at any moment," Totti enthused. "He's very good and we're really happy to have him in our squad."

Roma's next fixture sees Parma visit the Stadio Olimpico and Rudi Garcia's men will be confident of delivering all three points and keeping the pressure on Juventus.
