West Ham fans react on Twitter to Morrison's performance: 'The potential is unreal'

Ravel Morrison low quality

West Ham United may have lost 9-0 on aggregate to Manchester City in the League Cup semi-final, but at least fans had some joy watching Ravel Morrison.

Ravel Morrison has made plenty of headlines in his brief footballing career, and the latest concerned the reports linking him with a move to Craven Cottage.

Fulham's interest and the stories it generated prompted Morrison to go on record that he was fully committed to West Ham.  While his manager Sam Allardyce was said to be worried that his head had been turned and making money may have taken precedence over playing the game.

But against Manchester City in the second-leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final, Morrison was one of the Hammers' only plus points - in a tie they ultimately lost 9-0.

Many will say the return match was over by the time the former Manchester United midfielder started influencing the game.  But Morrison showed his ability with some direct running at the heart of the Blues' defence, before gradually taking control of Allardyce's midfield and pulling the strings.

Morrison had two shots during the match, and he played one key-pass to set up a goal-scoring chance for a teammate.  He had a pass-completion rate of 86%, went on five dribbles (more than any other player on the pitch aside from Sergio Aguero), and he also played his part defensively, making three interceptions.

So what did the fans think of his performance.  After the match, we took to Twitter to gauge the reaction, and below is a selection of fan feelings:
