Napoli are on the brink of signing Verona hot property Jorginho, but Il Mattino insists that Liverpool are desperate to derail the deal.
Having wowed Serie A crowds at Verona this term, Italian-Brazilian playmaker Jorginho is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, but Napoli are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for him.
The Azzurri are said to have agreed provisional terms with both the player and club and could complete a deal within the next week.
Il Mattino reports that Napoli are ready to give Verona £8.3m, with a payment of £6.2m upfront and a further £2.1m to follow dependent on performances.
The contract is said to be a five-year deal starting at £664,000 per season and rising to just under £1.1m with gradual increases each year.
Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Jorginho in the past and are known to be admirers of Jorginho.
