Nemanja Matic has been the subject of much speculation over the past few days, with reports in Serbia emerging that a deal had been agreed for him to sign for Chelsea.
SkySports reported last night that Chelsea had indeed submitted a £20 million bid for the Benfica midfielder.
The midfielder was in attendance at FIFA's Ballon d'Or ceremony, where he was up for nomination to win the 'Best Goal of 2013' award.
This allowed the media to grab a quick word with him, and ask him about a move back to Stamford Bridge, where he left in 2011.
Matic was happy to talk - but didn't entirely give the game away. It seems the deal is not quite done yet.
He told Portuguese newspaper A Bola and translated by SkySports: "I still can't say anything about this, let's see what happens in the future, you have to ask the club and the president."
"If it's (an offer which is) good for the club and for me, we'll talk. Let's see what happens until 31 January."
It certainly appears that reports in Portugal and Serbia over the weekend where premature, but it's also likely spmething is in the pipeline. Matic's attendance at the Ballon d'Or ceremony may even have delayed the move.
One last twist however, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted the following hours later:
So back to what the Serbian was at the awards for, did he win? Not quite. Matic was pipped to the Puskas award by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's incredible bicycle kick against England, but you can check out his strike below:
